Whiteout and the Woes of Winter Weather

Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue, Inc
February 28,2010

Multiple snow storms in the past month have left RVHR buried in white! However, it’s not just a winter wonderland–roofs on two buildings at RVHR have collapsed under the weight of the snow. Volunteers are needed to help rebuild.

With the ground freezing and thawing on an everyday basis, mud is inevitable, especially in areas of high horse and human traffic. To help reduce the slickness of these places, RVHR would like a donation of truck load of gravel (# 57–1 inch minus/mix) from Rockydale Quarries Corp. They can be reached through John Bashum at 540-774-1696. If you are able, please contribute to this effort to conserve RVHR funds (the last gravel delivery cost around $320).

During this long winter we have used triple the amount of sawdust in the barns. Supporters can also help to cover the cost of much-needed sawdust. Our last delivery on February 11th, was for $218.57 if you like to help with this unexpected cost you can make your donation check out to Ferguson Land & Lumber and mailed to;
